Creating Curbside Pick-Up
How to convert your business to offer curbside pickup
- Create a waiting area with parking spaces for curbside customers to wait for their order. Separate these spaces while keeping them close to the building and near a rear or side entrance.
- Hire delivery personnel who will bring orders to each customer for curbside. Make sure they are dressed a branded shirt, hat, or jacket. Hygiene and COVID-19 safety are important to your service staff and your customers.
- You’ will need an online ordering app. Think about streamlining your menu when offering take out or delivery. It is vital that the delivery person is able to find the car quickly. Ensure that your app or delivery platform has a section for car description. Having your customers call you works also. Remember this should be seamless, effective, and organized. Do what makes sense for your business.
- Make sure that you can take payments online in addition to accepting cash. If using cash, remember that your delivery staff will need to carry a bank in order to make change.
- Install clear visible signs to guide your customers to curbside pick-up.
- Develop clear delivery guidelines, such as always placing items in the trunk, back seat, or on the floor, in order to ensure that there is not spillage.
- Update your website and apps to include a curbside pick-up option.
COVID-19 2nd Wave
How will we handle COVID-19’s Second Wave? Possible Shutdown?
Experts have said for a few months that this season there will be a second wave and here we are wave 2 has descended upon us. Governor’s & Mayor’s are actively discussing another shut down which will put some areas if not all with dining rooms and outside dining closed until further notice.
With limiting your services back to curbside and takeout only, ask yourself, “What did I learn last time?” “What went well?” ‘What would I do differently?” Use what you learned to put together a plan so you can be prepared for round two. Be sure to communicate your plan to your team — or even solicit input from them — so that everyone is on the same page in case you have to put your plan into action.
Now is the time to make strategic decisions. Use what you know and what has worked in the beginning. shutting your doors is not an option.
Touchless Solutions
CONTACTLESS & TOUCH FREE SOLUTIONS
Many restaurants are looking for solutions to protect their employee and customers from the normal day-to-day contact. One area to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 is to go contactless. Your POS merchant can help in several ways. They can provide third-party apps to help reach this capability or easily integrate any countless payment app such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. Most POS companies offer CDS screens (customer display screens) as well. If your POS is outdated, look to SpotOn POS which leverages up-to-date technology and offers a cloud based system that us easily installed, customized, and extremely user friendly.
- Invest in a contactless terminal. Whether it is Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay contact your POS representative to have these integrated into your POS terminals.
- Update your Point of Sale (POS). SpotOn offers a solution that is packed with great features to help run your business.
- Encourage patrons to call in their orders ahead of time and pay over the phone or online. This helps to reduce the amount of contact your employees have with customers. When they come in to dine, they can also expect speedier service because of this. A win-win!
- Use QR codes. They’re free! With a simple press of a button and an upload, you can now enable your menus to be viewed on your customer’s phone instead of paying for paper menus to be thrown out after each use.
